The following learning opportunities are designed to support collaborations build and continuously improve local systems of early childhood services with the goal of ensuring that children birth through age five receive the support they need to enter kindergarten healthy, safe, ready to succeed, and eager to learn. Topics include team building, working with data, strategies to engage families and cross-sector partners in recruitment and enrollment efforts.

Part 2 - Early Childhood Collaboration Funding and Sustainability

Description:

This two-part training is designed to engage and enhance community collaboration knowledge around grant writing and financial sustainability. While attending both is not required, we encourage you to do so to gain the most out of this training.

Participants will be able to:

· Develop their writing skills when responding to various components of a grant proposal. These components include: writing a narrative, using pointed and equitable language, and developing a proposed budget.

· Time saving "hacks" to help develop a system for writing for multiple funding opportunities.

Part 1- Early Childhood Collaboration Funding and Sustainability

Description:

This training is designed to engage and enhance community collaboration knowledge around grant writing and financial sustainability. These workshops are developed to address meeting this need and building the capacity of collaboration teams, both local and regional, across Illinois. Participants will be able to:

Identify funders and types of funding available to support community collaboration goals.
Learn various organizational methods to intentionally write for funding that aligns with the goals and capacity of local community collaborations.

Illinois Risk and Reach Project

Cristina Pacione-Zayas from Erikson Institute and the CS3 Team at Illinois Action for Children jointly presented on the new Illinois Risk and Reach Project.

The Illinois Risk and Reach Project is a set of data tools that includes a comprehensive early childhood focused report and interactive website compiling analysis of child well-being indicated in relation to state investments in three domains: family stability, health, and early care and education. Data are visualized through tables and maps in three categories: “Risk”, “Reach”, and Budget Analysis.

KIDS Data: A Guide for Early Childhood Collaborations (10/9/19)

Illinois Action for Children offered a webinar on October 30th focused on the Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) data. The webinar discusses what the results might indicate for your community. It walks collaborations through how to access and analyze the data and discusses ways to use the data to improve the local early childhood system.
